About the Internship
The Genesis Counseling Center Doctoral Internship in Clinical Psychology is an APA-accredited, full-time training year designed to prepare emerging psychologists for excellence in outpatient clinical practice. Interns develop proficiency across assessment, psychotherapy, consultation, and research—building a versatile skill set to serve clients across settings and populations.
Training Areas & Experiences
Interns gain broad exposure to outpatient behavioral health with diverse client presentations (e.g., anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma recovery, and relational concerns). Core experiences include:
• Individual psychotherapy across the lifespan
• Psychological and psychoeducational assessment (cognitive, personality, neurodevelopmental)
• Co-leading DBT skills groups and children’s social–emotional regulation groups
• Family and marital support interventions
• Clinical consultation and community outreach
• Faith-integrated care when requested by the client
Supervision & Didactics
Training follows a practitioner–scholar model with layered supervision and weekly didactics. Interns receive individual and group supervision from licensed psychologists and participate in seminars covering ethics, diversity, assessment, trauma, CBT/ACT/DBT, and the integration of spirituality and psychology in clinical care.
Faith-Based Foundation & Inclusion
Genesis Counseling Center is a Christian-based organization. Our care model is rooted in values of compassion, integrity, and service. We welcome and serve people of all backgrounds and beliefs and provide faith-integrated therapy only when it is appropriate and requested by the client. Interns are trained to deliver culturally responsive, evidence-based care to clients from diverse traditions—including those with no faith background—while respecting each person’s values and autonomy.
