Making Space for God’s Peace

John 14:27a

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.

God says He gives us His peace, but we are often moving through life so quickly that we may not get the most out of the gift He gives us. For those who struggle with anxiety, peace is often something that is hard to feel even though we know that this is what God wants for us. A holistic approach to slowing down and accepting God’s gift of peace is to take a moment to take three deep breaths in our day. When we breathe deeply, we breathe in through our nose, fill our bellies with air, and then let it out slowly from our mouths. As we do this, we enjoy a physical feeling of slowing in the body. As we breathe in, it is helpful to remember God’s desire for us to have peace by thinking John 14:27a and taking time in our days to slow down and experience the peace God has given us physically, mentally, and spiritually.
