
Shelby DeBause, LMFT
Shelby DeBause has been in the counseling field since 1999. She often works with adolescent girls, women, and their families. She sees individuals with a wide array of mood issues, including anxiety and depression. She has a particular passion for those who may be struggling with fertility and postpartum mood disturbances. She also enjoys working with those who struggle with food and body image concerns, spiritual issues, or general self-worth. She believes in being caring and affirming to all clients, regardless of their history or their issues.
Mrs. DeBause received her Master’s degree from Appalachian State University, and then proceeded into a two-year residency at a psychiatric hospital in the D.C. area. She has also worked in the fields of foster care and at a residential treatment center for adolescents. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and has been with Genesis since its start in 2006. She serves as the Clinical Director for Genesis. Mrs. DeBause was a Collaborating Field Trials Investigator for the American Psychiatric Association, and currently is a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.
Mrs. DeBause is also a published children’s book author. She is a wife and a mother who enjoys being outdoors, helping kids in the community and in the church, and watching sports of all kinds.
