
Laura Hermiz, LPC, LMFT
Laura Hermiz has been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 1992, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 1998, and an ordained minister since 2003. Her therapy approach includes a combination of techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy and Solution Focused Therapy and Gestalt Therapy. She is registered with Prepare/Enrich and has used this often with couples to help them discover more about themselves and each other. Her primary focus has been working with women and adolescents who struggle with depression, anxiety, PTSD, eating disorders, emotional dependency-and sexual brokenness issues. Laura has a passion to integrate spiritual development into her therapy approach as people are interested and willing.
Laura graduated from Geneva College in 1986 with a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Communications, and a master’s degree in Clinical Counseling from Regent University in 1989. Laura also has a passion for helping single moms and their children, and has worked with several homeless outreaches through the years. Over the past 30 years, Laura has counseled in a variety of settings which include outpatient therapy, inpatient treatment for adults, intensive outpatient, residential for adolescents and children who are emotionally disturbed and have substance abuse issues and clinical case management. She has helped host a weekly radio talk show featuring mental health issues.
Laura loves to accompany and lead worship in her church and with her husband Joshua, a local businessman who has lead worship in various churches and ministry groups for the past 20 years. Laura and Joshua have been married for over two decades and have one daughter Kayla. Laura’s hobbies include writing for fun, drawing, and enjoys spending time walking, especially with her husband.
