
Karen Elseroad, LCSW
Karen Elseroad is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who currently works with adults and adolescents. Her approach is eclectic, using the best suited counseling approach in cooperation with and according to the needs of the individual. A supportive, cognitive-behavioral approach primarily used. Karen believes that God is present by His Holy Spirit in the counseling session to heal and restore. Karen is passionate about helping people see God’s grace and their strengths to realize positive changes and healing in their lives so that they may enjoy the life God has given them. Her primary focus has been counseling adult women and adolescents facing crisis, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, trauma, women’s issues, self-esteem issues, grief and loss, unplanned pregnancy, adoption issues, foster care issues and spirituality issues.
Karen graduated from the University of Maryland (at Baltimore) with a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work and from The King’s College with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. During her 30-year career, Karen has counseled in outpatient mental health, child and family human services, and outpatient adolescent clinic settings, and has led a not-for-profit Christian ministry. Karen has been dedicated to meeting the particular needs experienced by foster and adopted children, adult adopted persons, adoptive parents, birthparents, and persons/families facing unplanned pregnancies. She developed an older child adoption program, conducted birthparent support groups, and provided many educational presentations. Karen has served as a fulltime caregiver.
Karen enjoys all kinds of Bible study, spending time with family and friends, teaching elementary-age Sunday School, taking walks, outdoor activities, and the beach.
