
Jennifer Stelmach, Psy.D., LCP
Dr. Jennifer Stelmach is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who works with individuals of all ages across the lifespan. She has experience with both individual and group therapy with children, adolescents, and adults and has conducted psychological assessments with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults with a wide range of needs in both forensic and clinical settings. Dr. Stelmach’s previous work experiences include serving in many different roles at a state psychiatric hospital, a community mental health center, and a university clinic. Dr. Stelmach’s approach to therapy and assessment is individualized and humanistic and employs evidence-based approaches. She has vast experience treating individuals with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, serious mental illness, behavioral disorders and family stress. Dr. Stelmach primarily uses a cognitive-behavioral approach, however, she incorporates humanistic, family-systems, and trauma-focused approaches to best meet the needs of the individuals with whom she works. She also offers treatment that is informed by Internal Family Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy techniques. Dr. Stelmach is committed to building on the strengths of an individual or family in order to promote change. She strives to form a trusting, collaborative therapeutic relationship with each client and committed to partnering with other professionals to best serve the community and has a passion for training the next generation of therapists and psychologists.
Dr. Stelmach obtained her Masters and Doctorate Degrees in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) at Regent University. Her internship and post-doctoral hours were completed at Eastern State Hospital (ESH) where she served in various roles including as a part of an interdisciplinary treatment team on a geriatric unit, as a consultant for medically-compromised patients, and as the senior psychologist in the development of a problem-solving unit for individuals adjudicated Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity (NGRI). Dr. Stelmach is well versed in working with acute and chronic mental illness. Dr. Stelmach has also completed various forensic assessments and has extensive experience serving the courts. Prior to her career as a psychologist, she earned her BA with a teaching certificate. With her background in education, she is passionate about working with children and adolescents and is attune to their unique needs. Dr. Stelmach is also credentialled through the National Register of Health Service Psychologists.
Dr. Stelmach enjoys spending time with her husband, three children, and family dog “Maple” Syrup Pancake Waffle. She also appreciates reading, painting, camping, and running as well as spending time in nature. She also is passionate about serving as a member of the kid’s ministry at a local church and completing service projects in her local community.
Specialties: Psychological assessment for a variety of concerns to include but not limited to, autism spectrum disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, learning disorders, anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, behavioral challenges, and memory concerns. Therapy with adolescents and adults coping with anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, relationship difficulties, bipolar disorders, major mental illness, and adjustment challenges.
