
Janice Draime, LPC
Janice worked in the mental health field since 2000 with two cities; 4 1/2 years with Chesapeake CSB and 16 ½ years with Virginia Beach CSB; retirement on January 1, 2022. She holds licenses in Virginia as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner. Janice serves the mental health and substance abuse population. She is recognized for her work with individuals striving for healing and recovery from trauma, depressive and anxiety disorders and from addictions of opioids and benzodiazepines. Since 2000, Janice has been facilitating the Grief and Loss Community-Based Support Group.
Janice received BA in Psychology and Religious Studies from Virginia Wesleyan University in Norfolk, VA and MA in Counseling from Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA. She is trained and certified in Trauma Therapy with The Colin A. Ross Institute for Psychological Trauma. Other experiences include emotional support for rape victims while nurses conduct SANE exam, and co-facilitating group therapy for Dissociative Identity Disorder clients during internship.
Janice is an active member in her church choir, Bible Study, and joins as a member of mission teams to minister to people here and abroad. She described herself as being changed spiritually and emotionally beginning with the first mission experience in 2005. Janice facilitates faith-based substance abuse support group and teaches others how to facilitate the support group to encourage continuation of the ministry after she leaves. Janice is a member of the American Association of Christian Counseling. She enjoys spending time with her two children and their families; especially being grandmother to one grandson and two granddaughters. She also enjoys working out in the gym and 5K brisk walking. Janice is a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
