Erik Menjivar, LCSW

Erik Menjivar, a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in Virginia, has worked in the mental health field since 2006. He has focused on military and veteran populations for over 13 years while serving in the Air Force. He is trained to provide Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Adaptive Disclosure to address trauma and moral injury. He also has extensive backgrounds in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to address depression, anxiety, sleep disorders and substance abuse concerns. Additionally, he is certified as an Internal Behavioral Health Consultant (IBHC), with over 4 years providing coaching and brief, solution-focused psychotherapy to address non-clinical areas of concern and optimizing skills and behaviors. Erik is a firm advocate of humility and service in practice, striving to provide a comfortable and inviting setting that naturally allows clients to explore their discomforts.

A native of Los Angeles, Erik completed his undergraduate degree at the University of California, Irvine, and his Master’s in Social Work at the University of Southern California (USC). He is also bilingual in Spanish and able to serve Spanish-speaking clients. A veteran of the Air Force, Army and Marine Corps, Erik served in the military over 21 years as an infantryman and mental health provider. He ultimately settled in the Hampton Roads area with his wife and 2 young daughters after completing his military service.

Erik immensely enjoys traveling, snorkeling, kayaking, and you can find him sailing whenever he is not in the office.
