Brent Griffin, LPC, LSATP

Brent G. Griffin is well known for his down to earth approach to counseling, incorporating humor and various creative forms of media to make therapy a fun, rich experience in helping clients break free from addictive behavior, maximize problem solving skills, build harmonious relationships in marriage and family, boost self-esteem, alleviate depression, and restore peace of mind from anxiety and anger. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner who has been in the mental health field for over 25 years.

Mr. Griffin earned a Master’s degree in Counseling and Human Development (1996) and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology (1993) from Radford University, Radford, Va. He worked as Director for the Inner Reflections Drug Treatment Program and served as an Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist (ADS) for the Virginia criminal justice system and Hampton-Newport News Community Services board (1997-2001).  He has also worked at an outpatient clinic helping clients with dual diagnoses before moving to the private sector in 2004.  Mr. Griffin has been with Genesis Counseling Center for 13 years and is the author of the book Heavenly Parenting: Live a Little, Laugh a Lot, Love a Whole Lot More.

When he’s not at work, Mr. Griffin is busy enjoying time with his beautiful wife and three children on the beaches of the Outer Banks and enjoying books and movies.
