Rob Kay, Psy.D., LCP
Dr. Rob Kay is a licensed psychologist in both Virginia and Colorado. His background is primarily in psychological assessment, and he has experience in assessing for developmental disorders (e.g., ADHD, learning difficulties), mood/behavioral disorders, and neurocognitive deficits. He continues to serve in this capacity at Genesis Counseling Center and works with children, teenagers, and adults. Dr. Kay feels strongly about the value of assessment within the field of psychology, as it can often provide diagnostic clarity and identify appropriate treatment recommendations for those in need.
Dr. Kay earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Northwestern College in St. Paul, Minnesota in 2007. He then moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia to further his education and earned a Doctor of Psychology from Regent University in 2014. Since then, he has worked in general private practice settings and also has several years of experience working within both the New York and Colorado state corrections systems. Within the corrections system, Dr. Kay served as a general mental health practitioner, a lead crisis interventionist, and a sex offender treatment provider/evaluator.
Prior to becoming a psychologist, Dr. Kay enjoyed spending his time involved in music as a drummer and a singer. He first began to play drums in a church setting at the age of 13 with his mother as the pianist, and he has continued to play and sing in church settings for most of his years since then. He also loves cooking delicious food, and a favorite of family and friends is his homemade pizza he fires on his outdoor grill and smoked BBQ.
