Paul Stephenson provides a stabilizing presence for those wrestling with behavioral health issues including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, personality disorders, and trauma. Paul’s approach to counseling begins with listening. As he listens to hear, he establishes rapport while also ascertaining the individual needs of those with whom he works. He primarily uses Emotionally Focused Therapy in working with families and couples. He relies heavily on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Reality Therapy in his individual work. And he always strives to counsel from a foundation of both grace and truth.  Paul obtained his master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio, and also holds a Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University. Paul settled into the mental health field after a couple decades of lived experience in several other fields. He served as a US Navy Officer, a high school math teacher and coach, and a higher education administrator as a Director of Institutional Research. He brings his life experience together with over a decade of work and development in the mental health field. Life has uniquely prepared Paul to work with a variety of people. He sees adults individually as well as couples and groups, and he sees adolescents in the context of family counseling.  Paul and his family enjoy backpacking and board games. And adventure motorcycling promises to keep him on the trails and in the mountains for years to come.
