How to Join Your Telehealth Appointment
Genesis uses clinician-specific virtual waiting rooms. Unlike some practices, your telehealth check-in link is found on our website under your clinician’s name, rather than inside your MYIO patient portal. Save these steps so you are ready on appointment day.
Find Your Clinician & Waiting Room
Helpful tip: Bookmark the clinician directory or your clinician’s waiting room for future visits. This applies to telehealth counseling, testing, and medication appointments when scheduled virtually. In-person clients can skip this step.

Prepare for your visit
You will receive instructions for registration and forms. For telehealth appointments, use your clinician’s waiting room link on our website, not the MYIO portal. Your provider will learn about your concerns and goals at your first appointment.
What to expect at Genesis
We are honored that you are considering Genesis. Here is what to know before your first counseling or other clinical appointment.
Before your appointment
After scheduling, you will receive instructions to register for our secure MYIO patient portal. The portal helps you access appointments, complete paperwork, and view account information.
- Complete requested registration and intake forms before your appointment.
- For an in-person visit, plan to arrive about 15 minutes early.
- Bring a photo ID and your insurance card, if insurance applies to your services.
- Be prepared for any payment due at the time of service.
- Children ages 12 and under cannot be left alone in the waiting room.
In person or by telehealth
In person: Our front desk team will help you check in and confirm any remaining paperwork. Your provider will meet you for the scheduled appointment and discuss your concerns, goals, and next steps.
Telehealth: Your MYIO portal is for forms and account information; your appointment waiting room is accessed separately. Go directly to our Virginia Clinicians page, find your clinician, and select Join Waiting Room. Please test your connection and enter the waiting room a few minutes early.
After your visit, the team will help with follow-up appointments and any applicable payment arrangements.
