Ashley Hunt, PMHNP-BC
Ashley Hunt is a Virginia board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) who provides compassionate, comprehensive care to individuals across the lifespan. With a deep passion for walking alongside people through the challenges of mental health, she offers support for anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, grief, and life transitions. She is especially passionate about providing psychiatric care to children and adults living with chronic illness or pain, recognizing the unique emotional and mental health challenges that accompany long-term medical conditions. Ashley believes that finding the right medication regimen, when desired and appropriate, can be a vital part of the healing process. She partners with patients to thoughtfully manage their medications while also addressing underlying factors through mindfulness, breathwork, nutrition, sleep hygiene, supplements, and other lifestyle supports for comprehensive and lasting wellness. With a holistic and faith-informed approach, Ashley integrates psychotherapy, medication management, and psychoeducation to empower patients on their journey. Her approach is warm, collaborative, and rooted in respect for each person’s unique journey.
Ashley began her career in pediatric hematology and oncology nursing, where nearly two decades of experience shaped her desire to provide emotional and mental health care in conjunction with medical treatment. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Liberty University and her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Regent University. Her clinical training and experience include Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters (CHKD), Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, and UVA Children’s Hospital, as well as specialized mentorship in psychiatry through Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS). Ashley also has experience as a pediatric psychiatric case manager and group therapy facilitator, supporting women navigating grief, trauma, and emotional healing.
Ashley enjoys life near the coast with her husband, their two sons, and two beloved dogs. Her path to psychiatry was shaped not only by her clinical background but also by her personal desire to offer hope, healing, and wholeness to individuals and families in all seasons of life. She finds joy in journaling, sipping morning coffee, spending time in nature, her involvement in church, and making meaningful memories through family travel and deep friendships.
