Angela McDowell is a dedicated and compassionate licensed Resident Marriage and Family Therapist, as well as a National Certified Counselor (NCC). Graduating with her Master’s Degree in Marriage, Couple and Family Counseling from Regent University in 2020, Angela brings a wealth of knowledge and an empathetic approach to her clients.  With over 30 years of marriage to a veteran of the U.S. Navy, Angela has a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by both military and non-military families. She passionately believes in the power of healing, self-acceptance, and strength for individuals, couples, and families. Her mission is to provide a safe and supportive space for her clients to explore their emotions and experiences.  Angela enjoys working with adolescents and adults, premarital and couples counseling, and families experiencing relationship issues She also addresses a variety of women's issues, life transitions, grief, self-esteem issues, depression, anxiety, and stress management. Employing therapeutic techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Gottman Therapy, and SYMBIS, Angela ensures a tailored approach for each client's needs. Her commitment to her clients is rooted in her belief that they are the true experts of their own lives. She emphasizes the importance of a positive therapeutic relationship between therapist and client, viewing it as essential to growth and the healing process. Angela strives to meet her clients where they are and journeys with them towards their desired goals, offering support through whatever life issues they may be experiencing.  Beyond her professional expertise, Angela is an avid football fan and has a love for lighthouses. These personal interests reflect her vibrant personality and her ability to connect with clients on a human level.
