Alethea Tamez is a Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW) supervised by Jennifer Vasquez, LCSW-S in the state of Texas.  She earned a master's degree in social work in 2012 from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a bachelor's in psychology from Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky.  She has worked in a variety of settings: the church, community mental health, the non-profit sector and the juvenile justice system.  Alethea recently started her career in counseling.  And she has found that her way of helping is to listen and to focus on each individual, family or couple to help them discover their own solutions, goals and personal fulfillment.  She enjoys working with kids, teens, families and individuals and is interested in learning to work with couples.  Alethea is comfortable in working with grief, anxiety, depression, self-worth and past traumas.  Her approach to therapy is that the client is the expert in their own life and as a counselor we get to listen and walk alongside others to help them discover their own solutions, life goals and personal fulfillment.  Alethea utilizes narrative therapy, solution focused theory, the strengths based perspective and cognitive behavioral therapy in sessions.  When Alethea is not working, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, enjoying the outside, playing board games and eating a good piece of pizza. She lived in the Chicagoland area for 5 years and loves Chicago style pizza.
