Michelle Rogers began her career fifteen years ago at the Virginia Beach Community Services Board after finishing her Masters Degree in counseling at Regent University. In addition to providing therapy to families, groups and individuals, Michelle also developed and supervised a research-based parenting program for adults with disabilities. This novel program was featured at state conferences where she presented her experiences and interventions. After leaving the CSB, Michelle worked as a Family Therapist in a private, non-profit agency where she developed an interest in treatment for adults with trauma and abuse histories. Through collaboration with other community agencies, Michelle was instrumental in launching a community wide treatment program serving dually diagnosed trauma survivors. In addition to counseling, supervising, and program development, Michelle has experience as a staff and community trainer in the areas of parenting skills training, domestic violence and psychological trauma, healthy boundaries, and effective communication skills.

Now working with Genesis Counseling Center in Hampton Roads, VA, Michelle is motivated to help her clients to thrive, not just survive. While she works well with clients of all faiths and backgrounds, she has a special passion and expectation to see the power of God transform lives, restore relationships, and heal broken hearts. Special areas of interest and experience include breaking the cycle of toxic relationships, (emotional abuse, domestic violence), healing the wounds of childhood abuse, moving through grief and loss, and achieving psychological and spiritual wholeness within the context of healthy, life-affirming, relationships. Michelle works with children, adolescents, individuals, couples, and families. Specialties include spiritual concerns, grief and loss, depression, couples therapy, relationship issues, women’s issues, self-esteem problems and co-dependency.
