Tami Masters, L.C.S.W Tami Masters, LCSW, grew up within a military family, becoming a Hampton Roads transplant during her early grade school years. She has lived in various parts of Virginia including Radford, where she received her Bachelor’s in Social (BSW) work from Radford University in 1999 and in Richmond, where she received her Master’s in Social Work (MSW) from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2002. Tami’s past professional experiences include: Child Protective Service Investigator, mentor, foster care worker, and since 2005 she has been a therapist for many adults, adolescents, and children at a local mental health hospital. At the hospital she performed a variety of tasks including individual, group, and family therapy. Tami joined Genesis Counseling Center in February 2009. She is very excited to be part of this group and is committed to infusing biblical truths with mental health practices to help those she serves experience true freedom. Tami is passionate about our most vulnerable population: children and adolescents. Trauma is a particulate focus for her. She has extensive work in treating traumatized persons find meaning and healing in their lives. Tami is also adept in treating attachment problems, depression, anxiety, and persons with borderline personality disorder. Tami has received education, training, and support with Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and often runs skills training groups throughout the year at Genesis. When Tami is not working, she is either spending time with her family or engaged in ministry as a leader in the young adult’s group at her church. |
