Shelby DeBause is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She has been in the counseling field since 1999. She received her Master's degree from Appalachian State University, and then proceeded into a two year residency at a psychiatric hospital in northern virginia. She has also worked in the fields of foster care and at a residential treatment center for adolescents. Mrs. DeBause has been with her current group of colleagues at Genesis since 2004.

Mrs. DeBause specializes in the treatment of adolescents, women, and family issues, as well as a wide array of mood disorders such as anxiety and depression. She also facilitates the adolescent treatment group here at Genesis. She is a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage
and Family Therapists and of the American Association of Christian Counselors. She is currently the Virginia Association of Marriage and Family Therapy's Eastern Region Vice-President.

Mrs. DeBause lives on the southside of the Hampton Roads, VA area. She enjoys sports of all kinds, reading, and teaching 7th grade Sunday school at her church.
